January Update

Memorial Teacher, Stephanie Cunningham, Featured at MA Superintendent’s Mid-Winter Conference

On Thursday, January 25th, Memorial Science/Technology Teacher Stephanie Cunningham  was selected to present at the Massachusetts Association of School Superintendents Mid-Winter Meeting. At that meeting, Mrs. Cunningham presented a riveting overview of computational thinking and how it lays the groundwork for computer science education.  She took participants through a hands-on  model lesson which provided the audience with a greater understanding of computer science education at the elementary level.  Mrs. Cunningham represented our district well.  As always, she was poised, confident and extremely articulate in front of an audience of school-leaders from across the Commonwealth. Memorial School and the entire Medway community should be proud!

Grade 4 MEPTO Sponsored Enrichment Program- Motion, Forces and Energy

Friday, February 2, 2018

This presentation includes demonstrations and experiments to explore how motion is a form of energy and how we can use forces to change an object’s motion. Presenters will use the energy stored in a bungee cord to launch a student-ridden cart across the room, transfer the energy from a spinning wheel to make a student spin round and round, and use student energy and force to lift a teacher using a giant lever. Students are sure to learn and have fun during this program. Thanks to MEPTO for sponsoring this event.

This month, our students enjoyed tasting tomatoes. Students had the choice of fresh grape tomatoes or tomato salsa. Both items had favorable reviews from students.   Be sure to ask your child which option he or she liked best.
