Response Needed - Technology Curriculum Review Parent Survey

In the fall, the Medway Public Schools began an examination of our K-8 instructional technology curriculum.  We are nearing the end of our self-study phase of this work and are reaching out to request your feedback as a final, essential component.  A portion of the self-study takes a look at the perceptual feedback of our families regarding their children’s experience with technology.  A summary of this feedback will be embedded within this analysis.  Please take a few moments to take this parent survey prior to Monday, March 7.  We have tried to customize the surveys based on our age ranges.  Thank you!

Strategic Plan Update

Thanks to the school committee’s for approval of our strategic plan goals, we are able to move forward with the the development of proposed strategies and initiatives to support the fulfillment of these goals.  Please click here to find a survey sent to all staff, families and the community to collect feedback on these strategies and initiatives.  We will be collecting feedback on these strategies through Monday, March 7, 2016.

The goals are as follows:

Goal #1:  Improved Student Achievement:  Increase the achievement of all students.

Goal #2:  Social / Emotional Wellness:  Foster the social, emotional and healthy development of all students.

Goal #3:  Innovative Teaching and Leadership:  Ensure best practices and encourage innovation in teaching and leading.

Goal #4:  Positive Learning Culture:  Cultivate a school, student and professional culture that values trust, collaboration and effective communication.

Goal #5:  Productive Community Partnerships:  Strengthen engagement, trust, communication and collaboration between the Medway Public Schools and key stakeholders.

We will be meeting with the Strategic Planning Steering Committee later this month for the purpose of reviewing received feedback and finalizing next steps.  We hope that you will take some time to review and reflect upon these strategies and initiatives.  Thanks for your continued investment in this process.

Behavioral Health Self-Study Process to Start

We are excited to announce that all Medway Schools will be engaging in a self-study in the area of behavioral health beginning in March 2016.  This important work will be conducted at both the school and district levels.

Why a comprehensive study?

Medway Public Schools has made significant strides over the last 4 years in its efforts to respond to students in crisis.  In addition to ensuring that each school has a dedicated school psychologist, 3 of the 4 schools have developed programs that support students with daily challenges in behavioral health regulation.  Concurrent with these efforts, a careful examination of student need has resulted in the addition of two social workers, a BCBA (Board Certified Behavior Analyst) and an additional adjustment counselor.  Using a mental health model of supervision, principals, select educators, and social workers receive monthly clinical and educational supervision with outside partners in the area of student and school mental health initiatives.  We have made great strides to ensure that we are responsive in meeting the needs of students with behavioral health challenges.  We believe, however, that there is room for improvement and will complete this process to identify improvement opportunities.

We look forward to providing you with updates in the coming months.
