Mid-December Reminders

It is the middle of December and the bitterly cold temperatures have arrived in earnest. With only six more days of school before the holiday break, I wanted to share some reminders with you.

Bundle Up:

The dipping temperatures and the windy conditions will keep us in from outdoor recess tomorrow (12/16), but children still need to be dressed warmly with coats, hats, mittens or gloves for chilly arrivals and dismissals.

Also, whenever possible, which is just about every day, the children do go out to recess so appropriate outdoor gear is a necessity. Once we have a coating or more or snow, snowpants and boots are needed to be able to play in the snow.

Patriots/ Team Spirit Day:

We are celebrating team spirit day tomorrow, Friday, December 16th. Students and staff are invited to wear the gear of their favorite team.

Pursuit of Presents

The Medway Police Department is in pursuit of presents to help make the holidays brighter for families in need.  The Medway Police Department will have a truck/trailer in front of McGovern tomorrow morning, December 16th. All toys collected will be donated to children and families in need. Thank you for your consideration.

Gingerbread Festival:

The preschool classes will be celebrating their traditional gingerbread festival tomorrow, December 16th. Families have been invited to join their children in the cafeteria for song and dance before adjourning to the classroom for the building of fabulous gingerbread houses.

Super Power Parade:

Our kindergarten children will be celebrating the culmination of a readers workshop unit and their achievement in using their reading superpowers next week. The caped superheroes will parade through McGovern to be recognized for their accomplishment! Watch for pictures which we will share.

Holiday Break:

Vacation begins at regular dismissal time on Friday, December 23rd. There will be no school Monday, December 26th through Monday, January, 2nd.

We will open our doors again on Tuesday, January 3rd, 2017!

All of us here at McGovern wish all of our families the happiest of holidays and good health and joy in the new year.
