In the middle of a busy, complex week, I want to share a few quick reminders with you:

Our youngest students are once again leading the way and setting a great example by organizing a school wide food drive. Pre-K students will be collecting non-perishable food donations which may be brought to school any day during the month of November until Friday, November 18th. Each Friday, the preschool students and their teachers will organize and count the donations which will be donated to the Medway Food Pantry for those in need.

Since there is no school this Friday, you are most welcome to send a donation to school tomorrow or any day next week.Thank you for your generosity and consideration. Thank you, too, to our preschoolers for once again modeling good citizenship.

In observance of Veterans Day, McGovern students and staff members are invited to wear red, white and blue on Thursday, November 10th. There will be no school on Veterans Day, November 11th.

As many of you know, schools in Massachusetts are mandated by the state to collect heights and weights of students in grades 1, 4, 7 and 10 for the purposes of BMI calculation.  This screening will be done at the McGovern School starting the week of November 21st.  If you do not want your child to participate, you may request so in writing by Thursday, November 17th.  Please feel free to contact me to discuss the screening process.

A safety reminder in this post-Halloween, pre-holiday period:  Hard candy, lollipops, caramels and other treats, as well as cough drops and throat lozenges, place active children at risk for choking.    Please refrain from sending these items to school with your child.

Thank you.
