Senior Week and Graduation Information 2018

May 2018

Dear Graduates and Parents/Guardians of the Class of 2018,

As we approach the 2018 Graduation Ceremony, the Prom, and the numerous senior celebratory events, we are sending this important reminder to parents and students to ensure that the next few weeks remain a safe and pleasurable experience for all.

Our last day of classes for seniors will be Friday, May 18 (there will be a mandatory meeting last period), with senior exams following from May 21-25.

May 21st - A and B

May 22nd - C and D

May 24th - E and F

May 25th - G and Make-up

All service distinction hours must be submitted through the online form by May, 21st. The form can be found here.

We share the excitement of graduation with all of you. Please keep communication open with your seniors and be aware of all planned and unplanned activities during this busy time of year. We all want nothing but the best for the Class of 2018.

From an academic standpoint, the temptation to relax will be great, to that end, we expect our students to fulfill their academic responsibilities diligently until year’s end. Finish strong!

In terms of responsibilities to the Class, many seniors still require the paying of Class Dues, be it for this year or years prior. Questions regarding dues should be directed to the Class Advisors. Bear in mind that class dues entitle students to the cap and gown worn at graduation as well as many of the senior activities.

We also find this month that we run into a variety of obligations that seniors still owe, which must be collected prior to cap and gown distribution. All students must take care of:

  • Return of all library books

  • Return of all textbooks

  • Return any uniforms or athletic equipment

  • Resolve any disciplinary consequences, including detentions for tardiness

  • Resolve any debts to the school and/or cafeteria (Balances can be obtained from the main office or the cafeteria at lunch)

To pay off debts, you must bring cash or a money order payable to Medway High School in the dollar amount to cover any lost textbooks, library books, school equipment etc. which you may have lost. You may also bring cash and request a receipt from the office staff.

Only seniors who have taken care of obligations will receive their caps/gown; the right to participate in any activities, including graduation, can also be revoked. Please do this ahead of time!

As we move forward toward graduation activities, please know that, for these activities, all school rules and penalties apply.  For serious infractions, any offense resulting in suspension or involving drugs and alcohol, will deny the student the privilege of participating in the remainder of senior week activities. This includes participation in the Scholarship and Awards program, Class Day, and graduation ceremonies. Indeed, we want all our conversations around this time of year to be celebrations of success and not violations of school procedures and rules

Lastly, please take a moment to update Naviance accounts with the school of matriculation for next year. It helps us maintain accurate records and file final transcripts with the appropriate institution.

Listed below we have a condensed listing of all senior activities and information. All senior events can be found here as well as FAQ's regarding graduation. We look forward to seeing our seniors receive their diplomas on the 3rd of June, as well as participating in all the events leading up to this spectacular day.
