We hope that everyone enjoyed the February break with families and friends.  The weather was unexpectedly beautiful for this time of year in New England and hopefully is a sign that the winter weather is over.  Please read through this week’s News from the Middle School, as it contains a lot of information.


Chipotle Fundraiser TONIGHT

Special Olympics, March 23, 2018

Medway Middle School is excited to be the venue for the 2018 Five Town Special Olympic Games!  Athletes from Medway, Medfield, Holliston, Ashland, and Millis will come together to compete on Friday, March 23rd.  The success of this event is the result of many volunteers and a strong partnership from the community.  The planning team has organized community fundraisers to support the Special Olympics.  Chipotle Fundraiser Flyer


Scheduling: 2018-2019 School Year

We have begun the process of creating the master schedule for the 2018-2019 school year.  On Monday, you should have received an email with information about the course selection process.  We apologize for the technical difficulties you may have experienced.  The issues should be resolved and you should be able to enter your child’s preferences at this time.  Later this spring, you will receive additional information about the scheduling process and opportunities for your input.


High School Transition

Medway High School: Student Presentation

On Wednesday, February 28, 2018,  we will welcome the high school administrative team to speak to our grade 8 students.  Students will be provided an overview of the grade 9 program of studies, including elective choices, and will be given information about what to expect as they transition to the high school.  The high school has shared the following timeline for your information.

February 28 - Presentation of electives to grade 8


March 6- Letters mailed home with core course levels, elective sign-up sheet, and the process to request a change in placement.


March 6 - 16- Elective sign-up sheet and course level change/override process completed by parents and/or students.  Please follow the process outlined in the March 6, 2018 letter.  Course level change requests need to be completed by March 16, 2018.


Mid-August - Schedules sent out to students

STEM Saturday for Girls

Medway Public Schools is excited to host our third annual S.T.E.M Saturday for Girls!  The event will include opportunities for girls in grades 2 through 8 to participate in a variety of hands on activities to learn and explore different science, technology, and engineering topics.  Participants will also have the opportunity to learn from women who have fostered their passion for science, technology, engineering, and math to pursue careers in various S.T.E.M. fields. The event will take place on Saturday, March 24, 2018.  More specific information will be shared shortly!  STEM Saturday Flyer


Nature’s Classroom

Don't look now, but your 5th graders are almost 6th graders and the 2018-2019 school year is right around the corner.  With their matriculation to 6th grade, comes the long awaited trip to Nature's Classroom in September of 2018.  Within the first few weeks of school, we will head off to New Hampshire for an amazing experience.  To prepare for our trip, we invite you to join us on Wednesday, February 28th at 6:00pm in the MMS Auditorium for an Information Session to learn more about the trip.  We will hand out all of the important paperwork for the trip, hear a presentation from a member of the Nature's Classroom staff, and Trip Coordinator, Mr. Herbst, will be available to answer any questions you may have.


So please mark your calendar and we hope to see you on Wednesday, February 28th at 6:00pm in the MMS auditorium.

Save the Date

Curriculum Night 2018, Wednesday, March 28, 2018, 5:45 pm- 7:45 pm

Please join students and staff at the Medway Middle School on March 28th from 5:45 pm pm to 7:45 pm in the Cafeteria to celebrate the great work that takes place at the middle school and to enjoy some hands-on learning experiences. There will be activities like computer coding​, constructing architecture out of toothpicks, ​improvisational acting, and a variation of Scrabble, as well as several other Allied Arts, S.T.E.M. and ELA activities.


Student Yoga

Medway Middle School has partnered with Community Education to offer student yoga as an after-school activity.  Yoga is an excellent way for students to learn mindfulness techniques, which can be used to manage stress and reduce anxiety.  Yoga is also a fun way to perform light physical activity while connecting with friends.  For more information about the program and to register, please follow this link: Student Yoga   


News from the MEPTO

March 10th - SHAMROCK SHUFFLE TIME!!! One of our favorite days of the year! Sign up to run/walk the 5K with your friends and family. Our 1 mile remembrance this year will be dedicated to Andrea Alves-Bosworth. Andrea and her children are award winning runners in our race for the past few years. We will certainly feel the absence of Andrea at the start and finish line of the race and we would like to make this dedication to her. Please join us and register today. Tickets are on sale now for the MMS Production of Shrek the Musical Jr.  Show dates are April 6th at 7:30pm and April 7th at 2:00 pm and 7:30pm and all performances will be held in the MHS Auditorium.  We hope to see you there!  Tickets can be purchased at


Medway High School Musical Presents Disney’s “The Little Mermaid”

The Medway High School Musical will present performances of Disney’s “The Little Mermaid” on Friday, March 9 at 7:30pm and Saturday, March 10 at 2pm and 7:30pm. The performances will be held at Medway High School in the Dr. Arthur L. Bettencourt

Auditorium located at 88 Summer Street in Medway.  Tickets are $15 and are available online at​.  Tickets will also be on sale at the door until sold out - Cash and Check ONLY. All seating is reserved.
