News From the Middle School- May 2, 20172

Digital Citizenship and Social Media4-x-5-coro-sign.jpg

Medway Middle School is committed to partnering with families to support our students’ academic, social, and emotional growth.  Recently, we have experienced an increase in the number of concerns about inappropriate and unkind behavior occurring through social media, specifically Snapchat.  Snapchat allows users more anonymity than other social media sites, which may result in a false sense of privacy and an increase in inappropriate posts.  Most of these incidents are occurring during non-school hours, when students have more opportunities to access social media, yet have the potential to negatively impact the learning environment.

We ask that you continue to actively monitor your child's online life, which includes having frequent, open and honest conversations about what they are sharing through social media and what is being shared with them.  Below, please find some resources that we have previously shared, along with a couple additional resources, that you may find helpful to initiate these important conversations with your child(ren).

MCAS Testing

We are pleased to report that the scheduled test administration sessions have come to an end.  In the coming days, we will continue to complete any necessary make-ups for students who may have missed test sessions due to absence.  I want to share with you how proud of our students’ effort and hard work.  As was communicated earlier, this was our first year administering the Next Generation MCAS tests, as required.  As the results become available to us, we will use the information to ensure our curriculum at all grade levels is aligned with the frameworks and make necessary adjustments to the curriculum as we go forward.
