MCAS Testing Schedule

Spring 2017

 

MCAS testing continues this week for students in grade 8.   The MCAS is an important tool in assessing the achievement of individual students.  At the school level, we use the data from MCAS to make decisions about the curriculum and programs that we offer to our students.  The remaining test dates can be found below.  Please keep these dates in mind as student absences during this time are particularly disruptive.

Progress Reports

We have passed the  midway point of the third trimester.  Families are encouraged to visit the parent portal at that point to view their child’s third trimester academic progress. If you have questions about your child’s grades, we encourage you to contact their teacher.

MICCA Band Competition

Nick Tomassetti, grade 8 student, recently participated in the Massachusetts Instrumental and Choral Conductors Association’s annual Solo and Ensemble Festival.  Nick earned a silver medal, a testament to his hardwork and dedication.  Way to Rise Above, Nick!

 

Medway Middle School Spring Concerts

We are excited for our spring chorus and band concerts.  Please see below for  information about each of the two concerts.  The Auditorium will be open for audience members 10 minutes before the concert start time.

 

Thursday, May 25th Chorus Concert

 

Where: Medway High School Auditorium

When:   Grades 5 and 6 – 6:00 PM

                   5th & 6th Student arrival time 5:15 PM – meet inside the auditorium.

           Grades 7 and 8 – 7:00 PM

 

7th & 8th Student arrival time 6:15 PM – students should enter the building through the doors by the GYM not the front entrance. Students should quietly enter the band room (first door on the right of the music hallway).  The first concert will be in progress – you need to be quiet!

 

Wednesday, June 7th Band Concert

 

Where: Medway High School Auditorium

When:   Grades 5 and 6 – 6:00 PM

Grade 8 Promotion Ceremony- Save the Date

Monday, June 19, 2017

The Eighth Grade Promotion Ceremony is scheduled for Monday, June 19, 2017.  This evening event begins with a ceremony for families and friends to celebrate our students’ completion of middle school.  The grade 8 students are then invited to stay for a dance to celebrate the event with their classmates.  More specific details about the Promotion Ceremony will be shared in the coming weeks.

Joanne Senier-LaBarre Free Spirit Award- Deadline Extended, May 25, 2016

The Alexander Handy Memorial and Scholarship Foundation invites Medway Middle School students to submit applications for the Joanne Senier-LaBarre Award.

Middle School Box Tops Contest

 

The top TWO Students who bring in the most box tops will each receive a $25 Amazon Gift Card!!!!!!!

 

Students must bring boxtops and labels in a bag labeled with their name and homeroom number to the office by Friday, May 26, 2017 to be entered into this contest.

Book Drive May 1-May 31st 2017

Troop 65473 is collecting new or gently used books for the Reader to Reader organization. Reader to Reader is an organization that collects books for school libraries that cannot afford books. There will be a donation box in the lobby of each school from May 1st to 31st. If you have any spare books please donate. Thank you!

 

Superintendent’s Task Force on Middle School Recess

Ryan Sherman, Ph.D., Director of Wellness  and Assistant Principal Paul Gamache are looking for interested, elementary, middle and high school parents to join the Superintendent's Task Force on Middle School Recess.  This task force, made up of administrators, parents and teachers, will be responsible for comprehensively examining opportunities for recess at the middle school level, including potential advantages and challenges.  The task force will meet once a month, after school, during the months of May, June, September, October and November.  If interested, please complete this form: Recess Task Force
