As we get ready to break in recognition of Thanksgiving, I wanted to take a moment to thank the community. MSPTO's 8th Annual Holiday Pop-Up Shop is on Wednesday, December 7. All are welcome to stop by the Medway High School lobby from 6:00 p.m.-7:30 p.m. for some holiday shopping with local artisans.

The Medway Friends of the Performing Arts (MFPA) will be having their annual fundraising bake sale during the MHS Winter Concert and Art Walk. Join us on December 14 at 6:00 p.m.at the High School.

Paula LeBlanc, Family Partner at You Inc., will be facilitating this month's workgroup aimed at Balancing Technology Use. The meeting will be held at the Medway Public Library, 26 High Street on November 16 at 6:30 PM.
Monthly sessions are offered for those caring for children with mental health concerns. These sessions are designed to help caregivers figure out how to best support their loved ones while finding time for self-care.

We are pleased to kick off our first Superintendent Chat of the 2022-2023 school year with an opportunity for family members to engage in a brief informational update and then a question and answer session with our Student Services Team. Dr. Ryan Place, Director of Student Services, and Sue Frederick, Assistant Director will be available to answer questions. This Chat will take place from 5:30-6:30 p.m. in the Presentation Room at Medway Middle School (Door #7). All families are welcome.
Superintendent Chats are typically opportunities for Central Office leaders to engage with families around specific topics of interest. Future Superintendent’s Chats are planned to discuss: Student Assessment (12/1 @5:00 p.m.) and the FY24 Budget Development (2/1 @ 6:00 p.m.). More information will be shared soon.

This week's Superintendent's update recognizes the two new Memorial Plaque inductees. The plaque at the Memorial School was created to honor those community members who have made a significant contribution to the town and honor those residents who sacrificed their lives for freedom in service. We were pleased to celebrate Mr. John Foresto and Ms. Dawn Rice-Norton for their contributions to the community. Paula LeBlanc, Family Partner at You Inc., will be facilitating a monthly group aimed at supporting caregivers of children with mental health concerns and creating peer connections.
A high percentage of Medway youth are learning to manage their mental health concerns, and most are supported by a parent or caregiver. Those caring for children with mental health concerns often feel overwhelmed with figuring out how to best support their loved ones while finding time for self-care. Medway High School presents The Canterbury Tales. Performances will take place on November 5 at 2:00 p.m. & 7:00 p.m. in the Medway High School auditorium. Tickets are available for sale at the door and are based on availability.

The next meeting of the School Committee is TONIGHT at 6:00 p.m. All are welcome to join the meeting which will take place in the Presentation Room of the Medway Middle School located at 45 Holliston Street. Join us TONIGHT, October 19 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m in the Memorial School Cafeteria, 16 Cassidy Lane for Medway T.H.R.I.V.E.'s Speaker Series. Tonight's presentation will have an elementary student focus.
Medway T.H.R.I.V.E. is offering opportunities for parents/guardians to learn how they can promote student self-efficacy and sleep. Joanie Geltman, MSW, will share best practices for growing children’s self-efficacy, and Judith Owens, MD, will help parents and guardians understand the impact of sleep on academic and athletic achievement. Hidden in Plain Sight. A mock bedroom demonstration for Parent/Guardian Education will take place at Medway High School, 88 Summer Street (during parent/teacher conferences) on Tuesday, October 18 6:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m.

REMINDER - A 2nd vaccine clinic will be held on November 3 from 3:30 p.m.-6:00 p.m. The COVID-19 vaccine will be offered to children ages 6 months to 11 years old, and the flu vaccine will be offered to anyone over 3 years old. Committee members Melissa Greenfield and Lauren Nassiff are pleased to host the first Office Hour of the 2022-23 school year this Friday, October 14th from 9:30-10:30am at the Muffin House. This is not a formal meeting and there is no agenda -- just an opportunity to chat, answer questions, and hear about what's important to you. Additional dates, times, and formats will be offered throughout the year.
